PORSCHE is responding to the energy crisis with a Cayenne Hybrid, but that’s still at least three years away. So the next most economical SUV it can offer is the Cayenne V6. Yep, not since the front-engined 924 of 1977-1982 has a Porsche featured a VW-sourced engine, but these days, with all the fine direct-injection units going around, is this really such a bad thing? And does the base Cayenne offer any sort of reasonable economy benefit, considering that it weighs almost 2200kg? We think you may be surprised with the outcome.
