Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid priced for Oz

PORSCHE is expanding its Cayenne SUV range once more with the announcement this week of a third plug-in hybrid variant.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid is now available to order in SUV and SUV Coupe form from $178,300 and $185,100 plus on-road costs respectively, with first deliveries slated for early in the new year.

Positioned between the Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, the newly introduced variant is said to focus on the fine balance between everyday usability and performance. It brings similarly revised hybrid driveline technologies found elsewhere in the range, including additional all-electric driving range and shorter charging times.

Power comes from a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine (260kW) and electric motor (130kW) pairing to deliver a combined output of 382kW and 750Nm. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid is listed with a 0-100km/h time of just 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 263km/h.

The luxury variant rides on a two-chamber, two valve air suspension arrangement as standard, the system said to provide increased performance and greater driving comfort. The setup offers a wider spectrum of spring rates than before, benefitting both highly dynamic and extremely comfortable settings.

At the same time, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid’s optimised hybrid driveline offers a larger 25.9kWh battery and new on-board AC charger (up to 11kW) to reduce charge times to less the 2.5 hours.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid is equipped as standard with 20-inch Cayenne S wheels (SUV) or 21-inch RS Spyder Design alloys (SUV Coupe), dual twin-tip exhaust outlets in brushed stainless steel, matrix LED headlights, and a Silver (SUV) or Black (SUV Coupe) exterior garnish package.

In-cabin features include Porsche’s Sport Chrono package, including a mode switch for selecting the driving program, pedal pads in stainless steel, as well as the Diamar interior package painted in Silvershade.

The vehicle also offers as standard the My Porsche app, including new Apple CarPlay functions, optional passenger screen, and a new air quality system Porsche says is designed to filter out particles and hazardous substances.

In Australia, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid will be additionally fitted with standard metallic paint, a panoramic roof system (SUV only, fixed glass roof in SUV Coupe), Porsche Entry (comfort access), privacy glass, and power steering plus (SUV only, standard in SUV Coupe).

Further, the variant also receives as standard: lane change assist, active parking support with surround view (360-degree camera), head-up display, adaptive cruise control with lane keep assist, front seat ventilation front (a no-cost option for SUV Coupe), side airbags in rear compartment, 14-way comfort seats including memory package (another no-cost option for SUV Coupe), driver memory package (SUV Coupe only) and a Bose-sourced premium surround sound system with digital radio reception.
