SALES of large passenger cars are taking a bit of a beating in Australia as many shoppers either down-size or migrate into the flourishing SUV segment, but that hasn't stopped Peugeot persevering with its 508.

After an initial encouraging spike in sales, the 508 settled down to a slow boil but the French car-maker says a mid-life update will repeat the early success, while attracting new, more sustainable interest in the segment.

For 2015, the range has been given a fresh new look, more kit and a couple of variants have been dropped from the line-up, but will that be enough for the European sedan and wagon to make an impression in one of the toughest local markets?

By taking a fresh look at the mid-sized market, Peugeot is offering a package that differs, quite notably, from the competition.
