New level for 407 HDI

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 4th May 2006

PEUGEOT Cars Australia has fitted a new six-speed automatic transmission to its diesel-powered 407 sedan and wagon.

Already seen in the 407 Coupe, the AM6 tiptronic gearbox replaces the existing four-speed auto and is claimed to improve both performance and fuel economy.

Combining with the (unchanged) 100kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, it returns 10.0L/100km (city) and 5.5L/100km (highway).

Pricing remains steady at $48,190 for the HDI auto sedan and $51,190 for the HDI auto Touring.
