THE 406 SV won't be seen often with a manual transmission, with the majority of cars expected to be automatics. In fact, the five-speed is available by special order only. The electronically controlled 4HP20 automatic offers four speeds and two operational modes - normal and sport - but does not really do justice to the engine. The manual allows the engine to work in its best operating range.
