PEUGEOT peeled the wraps off the Peugeot 308 CC – fresh from its world debut in Paris last week – along with a 308 XTS flagship small car at the Australian International Motor Show at Darling Harbour this morning.

Due on sale here next April, the 308 CC is the latest of Peugeot’s coupe-cabriolet evolution, which started with the 206 CC seven years ago.

As reported ahead of the Paris show, Peugeot engineered a number of innovative features into the CC, such as a warm-air heating system built into the front seats.

This “Airwave” system is designed to act like a scarf by diffusing warm air that is adjustable for temperature, flow and direction around the occupant’s shoulders and neck.

Peugeot will also unveil a new range-topping 308 model variant, the 308 XTS, which goes on sale today priced from $38,990. The 308 XTS is powered by the 207 GTi’s 128kW 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine and is linked to a new six-speed manual gearbox.

The XTS has unique lower front bumper and rear spoiler, a reduced ride height, 18-inch alloy wheels, Xenon directional headlamps, front foglights and a chrome exhaust tip.

The interior features sports seats with leather bolsters, a panoramic glass roof, aluminium gearshift knob and pedals and a new leather steering wheel.

Dual-zone climate-control, Bluetooth connectivity, a tyre-pressure warning system and a trip computer are also fitted on the new 308 flagship, while safety is covered off with seven airbags, electronic stability control and ABS brakes with EBD.
