Peugeot re-jigs 208 and 2008 pricing

PEUGEOT Australia has announced price reductions for its 208 and 2008 range, with the light hatchback receiving up to $1300 off and the small crossover cut by as much as $1490.

The French car-maker’s cheapest model now kicks off at $22,190 before on-roads, a $300 reduction from before, for the entry-level 208 Active.

For the money, buyers get 16-inch alloy wheels, 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors and Bluetooth and USB connectivity.

The next variant up, the Allure, drops $1300 to $24,990, while the GT-Line receives the same price reduction to $26,990.

The Allure grade adds front parking sensors, satellite navigation, dual-zone climate control, chrome and aluminium highlights, and automatic wipers and headlights, while the GT-Line receives 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, variant-specific badging, red-accented grille and black side mirrors.

All three aforementioned 208 vehicles employ an 81kW/205Nm turbocharged 1.2-litre PureTech three-cylinder engine for propulsion paired with a six-speed automatic transmission for an official fuel consumption figure of 4.5 litres per 100km.

Peugeot has however left pricing of the flagship 208 GTI static at $29,990.

The brand’s 2008 small-SUV contender is now $1000 cheaper at $25,490 for the Active variant, which comes packaged with 16-inch alloy wheels, reversing camera, rear parking sensors and 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen.

Allure-spec 2008 crossovers also drop $1000 to $29,990 with standard equipment including 17-inch wheels, Active City Brake, front parking sensors, City Park assist, sat-nav, extended wheel arch flares, stainless steel boot lip liner and cornering front foglights.

Top-spec 2008 GT-Line versions receive a $1490 price drop – the biggest cut across both vehicle ranges – to $31,500.

GT-Line customers gain black door mirrors, side privacy glass, black roof rails and cloth seat trim with red stitching.

All versions of the 2008 utilise the same 81kW/205Nm 1.2-litre turbo-petrol three cylinder.

In addition to the model price cuts, Peugeot has also lowered the price of the metallic paint option on its 208 and 2008 from $990 to $590, as well as on the 508 sedan from $990 to $690.
