207 SW for Australia

PEUGEOT Automobiles Australia will add an SW wagon to its forthcoming 207 compact-car range early in 2008.

Set to become Australia’s first premium light-car wagon, the 207 SW will be slightly smaller than the current Toyota Corolla wagon.

One Peugeot insider hinted to GoAuto that the new wagon would be significantly larger, roomier and more versatile inside than the 206 SW it is replacing in Europe. It should be priced from around $25,000.

In 2001 Peugeot displayed a 206 SW at the Sydney motor show to test the waters, and subsequently decided to go with the bigger and more practical 307 SW.

While on the topic of 307, the new-generation model – the 308 – will spawn a seven-seat mini-MPV version sometime after the all-new small car’s debut appearance at the Frankfurt motor show in September 2007.

The MPV is expected to be dubbed the 3008 and should be available in Australia by 2009.
