WHERE most vehicles have moved to rack and pinion steering, the Patrol continues to use the older recirculating ball system where the steering column is attached to a steering box containing a worm gear that alters the steering ratio and combines with a meshed lever and a tie-rod to turn the front wheels. Power-assistance is also provided and 3.5 turns are required to move from lock to lock. Such a large vehicle inevitably has a large turning circle - the Ti measures 12.5 metres. The leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel is tilt-adjustable.
