A NEW, high-tech turbo diesel for Nissan's Patrol makes the big 4WD an even more formidable contender at the top end of the off-road market. The new engine produces more torque than any other powerplant in the Patrol range and out powers the much larger - and still available - 4.2-litre turbo diesel. The new engine sits very comfortably with the solid, rugged nature of the Patrol but its (relatively) small capacity requires some extra attention from the driver to keep it within its power band.
