THE Patrol is a four-wheel drive of the old school - well almost, there's no manual locking hubs thankfully. Its four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine sits longitudinally in the engine bay, driving the rear wheels when on tarmac. When you move off-road, four-wheel drive can be engaged in either high or low gearing ranges.
