MONOCOQUE chassis construction has allowed Nissan to engineer front and rear crumple zones and improve the Pathfinder's performance in the event of a collision. Side-impact protection is attended to with side intrusion beams fitted to front and rear doors, while the driver and front passenger have the additional security of an airbag. A four-sensor three-channel anti-lock braking system is also standard. No lap-sash safety belt or headrest is provided for the middle rear-seat passenger.
