WITH some seriously competent opposition, Nissan has its work cut out in the one-tonne ute segment, but with an all-new Navara NP300 available in more variants than ever before, the Japanese car-maker is confident it can claim back a few ranks.

The more comfort-oriented and family-friendly Dual Cab kicked-off the assault earlier this year, but now the workhorse Single Cab and King Cab versions have arrived, completing the 27-variant range.

It has more kit, a fresh new look, efficient diesel engines and, critically, a five-star ANCAP safety rating, but is that enough to do battle in one of Australia's most popular markets?
