NISSAN uses an engine speed sensitive rack and pinion steering system in the Maxima. For the latest model, Nissan has reduced the amount of wheel-twirling required to go from lock to lock from 3.2 to 2.9 turns, while the turning circle, as a result of the longer wheelbase, has increased from 10.6 to 10.8 metres. Adjustments to driver/steering wheel relationship have also resulted in improved ergonomics.
