THE Maxima was being developed at the time of Nissan's financial crunch in the late 1990s so there's nothing too heavily modified under the skin, and the sheetmetal changes themselves keep the car's conservative image well and truly alive. With Renault now firmly in control there's every chance the next Maxima will be a far different and more stylish vehicle.
