NISSAN and its GT-R nameplate has a long-running history with Bathurst’s world-famous Mount Panorama circuit, making it the perfect place to launch its highly-anticipated Nismo factory tuning brand.

Not content to debut with anything less than the flagship model, the first model available in Australia will be none other than the stonking 441kW/652Nm GT-R Nismo hero car.

However, Nismo changes are not just limited to an engine tune, but also stripped weight, fettled suspension and tweaked handling characteristics, all to keep every aspect of the new GT-R in perfect balance with one another.

With an engine and platform which debuted almost 10 years ago in 2007, can Nissan’s tuners extract enough performance from such an ageing vehicle to convincingly stand toe-to-toe with its contemporary European supercar rivals?
