MITSUBISHI released an upmarket version of the TR Magna sedan (and wagon from May 1992) a few months after the release of the TR in July 1991. Bigger US-style bumper bars are the easiest way to identify the KR series Verada. Two well-specified models were offered – the base V6Ei and the luxury sedan-only V6Xi. Power came courtesy of a Japanese made 120kW 3.0-litre V6 engine, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Air-conditioning and power steering were standard, joined in late ’92 by cruise control, central locking and power windows. The V6Xi added alloy wheels and climate control, while a driver’s airbag (an Aussie-made first) and anti-lock brakes (ABS) were optional on both.
