Pajero specials roll on

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 7th Dec 2010

MITSUBISHI has continued the rollout of limited-edition Pajero models with the release of the value-added RX, which comes at no extra cost over the mid-range GLX upon which it is based.

Unlike the GLX, however, the RX is available with both four-cylinder diesel and V6 petrol power, and adds a host of free cosmetic and convenience features for the same starting price as the standard Pajero GLX 3.2-litre turbo diesel ($55,190).

Externally, they include 18-inch alloy wheels, chromed mirrors and door-handles, side steps with integrated mud guards, front skid plates, rear deflector, rear spoiler, silver roof-rails and exclusive RX badging.

Inside, the Pajero RX comes with alloy automatic transmission, transfer case and handbrake levers and a six-CD stacker. Front foglights and rear parking sensors are also standard, as is Mitsubishi’s All Terrain Technology (MATT) comprising electronic stability control (ASC), traction control (ATC) and Super Select 4WD II.

In addition to ABS brakes with EBA and EBD, side and curtain airbags were added to the standard equipment list of the Pajero GLX (and entry-level GL) last month, when its price also increased by $900.

“The limited-edition Pajero RX builds on the Pajero’s legendary status while giving our customers a little something extra,” said Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited president and CEO Masahiko Takahashi.

“The Pajero RX features all the technology, power and four-wheel drive capabilities Pajero is famous for in a stylish package. It’s the extras in the Pajero RX that enhance the driving experience for drivers and passengers alike.” Like all Mitsubishis, the Pajero RX comes with a five-year/130,000km new-vehicle warranty, backed by a 10-year/160,000km powertrain warranty and a five-year/unlimited km roadside assist package.

The Pajero RX follows the release in October of another Platinum-edition Pajero.
