Pajero goes Platinum once again

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 6th Oct 2010

MITSUBISHI has wheeled out yet another Platinum-edition Pajero precisely 12 months since the last, this time adding a range of premium interior and exterior upgrades for the same price as the entry-level GLX variant on which it is based.

Outside, the 2010 Pajero Platinum Edition adds privacy glass, body-coloured door-handles and mirrors, a chromed radiator grille and silver roof rails, while extra interior features normally found only on upstream models include Mitsubishi’s Multi Communication System (MMCS) with voice-activate navigation controls, a premium 850-Watt Rockford Acoustic Design 12-speaker sound system and a reversing camera and sensors.

There are also front foglights, rain-sensing wipers and dusk-sensing headlights, in addition to standard Pajero features such as twin front airbags, electronic stability and traction control, and ABS brakes with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution. Like all Mitsubishis in Australia, it also comes with a five-year/130,000km new-vehicle warranty and 10-year/160,000km drivetrain warranty.

The newest Platinum Pajero is available now for the same price as the standard GLX 3.2-litre diesel manual ($54,290 plus on-road costs), as well as the automatic ($57,290) and the auto-only 3.8-litre petrol version of Mitsubishi’s popular mid-size SUV.

“We are pleased to bring back the popular platinum edition of the Pajero,” said Mitsubishi Motors Australia president and CEO Masahiko Takahashi. “Four-wheel drive enthusiasts will appreciate its solid on and off-road power, as well as the addition of a number of stylish and functional interior and exterior features as standard fitment.”
