TJ is the fourth update since the current Magna body shape was launched and is the most significant sheetmetal change Bonnet has a raised V-section that forms a body-coloured centre nose section Egg-crate design in the two grille sections distinguishes Magna from Verada Deck lid redesigned into a one-piece outer unit with a depressed centre top section and a flat rear panel Number plate garnish now body colour Rear lamps have been redesigned to incorporate round lenses within the same outer shape New badging emphasises chromed "three diamond" corporate logo Two-tone interior now standard Interior trim options are dark grey/light grey or brown/sandstone New interior appointments include a radio with single-slot CD and a driver's airbag There is now no cassette tape player, although there is a cassette input plug The 3.5-litre V6 engine is a cheap option for Executive and for TJ it has been boosted by 3kW to 150kW while torque stays at 300Nm Inlet valve timing on the 3.5 has been retarded (opening two degrees and closing by six degrees) while exhaust valve timing has been advanced (opening by six degrees, closing by two degrees) Torque output remains the same but the curve has been made flatter Mitsubishi claims improved fuel mileage for the V6 engine/automatic transmission combination It says the 3.5 delivers better fuel economy than a Toyota Camry 2.2-litre engine on the highway cycle The two microprocessors that previously controlled engine and automatic transmission functions have been replaced by a single processor A new range of weight-distributing hitch-receive type towbars enhances Magna's towing capability Magna is available with a factory-backed LPG system
