THE VR-X coupe is powered through the front wheels by a 1.5-litre (1468cc) transversely mounted inline four-cylinder engine. Maximum power of 69kW is delivered at 5500rpm, and torque of 126Nm at 3000rpm. The engine is fuel injected, uses 91 RON unleaded petrol and helps the coupe reach a maximum speed of 172 km/h and 0-100 km/h in a claimed time of 10.8 seconds. The current CE model introduced fuel injection, increasing output, improving low-end torque and lowering fuel consumption from July 1996.
