THE latest generation Lancer improved on the body structure, with bending rigidity up by 30 per cent and torsional rigidity by 45 per cent. A driver and front passenger airbag are contained in an option pack, along with a three-spoke steering wheel. Anti-lock brakes are unavailable throughout the Lancer range. The centre-rear passenger gets a lap belt only.
