VR-X takes the already sporty Lancer GLi coupe and turns it into something special. A number of styling cues set the VR-X apart, notably the redesigned front bumper and grille, 14-inch alloy wheels with a stylish nine-spoke design, side skirts, rear spoiler incorporating a stop lamp, exhaust extension, body-coloured doorhandles and external mirrors, and VR-X branding on the tail.

The core coupe body remains in tact, still reminiscent of Magna with its triangular tail lamp clusters and high bootlid.
