EVERYONE has heard about electric cars and sensed their impending arrival in a world increasingly concerned about the long-term viability of fossil fuels like oil, but relatively people have actually driven one. , , With the arrival of Australia’s first mainstream EV, we finally parked a Mitsubishi i-MiEV in our driveway at home and experienced a taste of future motoring. , , In many ways, it proved less daunting that might be expected, but we also experienced the realities of “range anxiety” – the need to plan and monitor your trips mindful of your ability to recharge the car’s batteries and with the constant fear of what would happen if it simply stops out on the road.
