Mini hatches two special editions

The youth-focused Cooper Baker Street and the sporting Cooper Bayswater – both named after London cultural hotspots – will be available in Australian showrooms in limited numbers from May.
The Baker Street – a name which tips a metaphorical deerstalker cap to fictional detective Sherlock Holmes – can be ordered in Cooper and Cooper D guises for an additional $1950.
Exclusive features include a new shade of paint called Rooftop Grey, V-shaped black bonnet stripes, special badges and 16-inch six-spoke black alloy wheels with matching glossy black door mirrors.
The car can also be ordered in Pepper White and Midnight Black colour schemes, but all get black roof paint as standard.
Inside, the car gets a unique diamond pattern on its grey seats with matching door trim and dash highlights, Baker Street logos scattered around the cabin and a Mini navigation system as standard.
Both Cooper and Cooper D versions of the Baker Street can be had in either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic guise.
The Bayswater takes its name from a chic part of London’s inner-west and costs an extra $3400 over the Cooper and Cooper D variants on which it based, or $2700 more for the hot Cooper S version.
The Bayswater gets a special Kite Blue paint, 17-inch black and silver alloy wheels, blue and silver stripes on the bonnet and mirrors and special badges.
The car can also be ordered in Midnight Black or Eclipse Grey paint and, like the Baker Street, comes with a standard black roof finish.
The cabin gets anthracite leather seats as standard with blue and grey contrast stitching plus matching designs on the handbrake and gearshift.
The interior also gains piano black inserts and chrome highlights as well as a Harman Kardon premium sound system.
All Bayswater variants are available with either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.
Both special editions follow in the tyre tracks of conceptually similar commemorative models from 2009 – the Mini Camden and Mini Mayfair.
Arriving before the Baker Street and Bayswater will be the all-new Mini Coupe and Roadster models in late-February.
As we have reported, the Coupe is longer and lower than the standard Mini hatch and will kick off from $42,990, with soft-top versions around $2500 more for each variant.
