MINI Australia has released a special model based on its six-door Clubman S wagon called the Masterpiece Edition and priced at $55,210 plus on-roads, representing a $10,310 premium over the regular version.

Limited to just 30 units, the Masterpiece Edition builds on the standard specification of the Clubman S, while adding a number of other unique elements picked out from the Mini Yours personalisation catalogue.

It gains an exclusive white silver metallic paint finish, ‘Masterpiece Edition’ badging on the C-pillars, specific 18-inch light alloy wheels in dark spectre grey, and black-accented roof, roof rails, mirror caps, bonnet stripes and side scuttles with a monochrome Union Jack motif.

Inside, the Masterpiece Edition gains the Mini Yours ‘Leather Lounge’ seats trimmed in carbon black with the seats electrically adjustable and heated.

Other selections from the Mini Yours catalogue include a piano black illuminated styling package with contrasting Chrome line interior trims, a sport steering wheel, anthracite headliner and ‘essentials’ diamond-pattern deep floor mats.

The extra equipment joins the standard specification which includes a glass panoramic sunroof, Mini navigation with 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging and a head-up display.

Powering the Masterpiece Edition is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 141kW/280Nm through the front wheels.

The landmark sprint from zero to 100km/h can be completed in 7.1 seconds, while sipping 5.9 litres of fuel per 100km and emitting 138 grams of CO2 per km.

Mini Australia general manager Tony Sesto said the Masterpiece Edition was an opportunity for Mini fans to purchase an exclusive model.

“The Cooper S Clubman Masterpiece Edition brings an ultra-exclusive MINI experience,” he said.

“As well as a strong uplift in look and feel – thanks largely to considered inclusions taken from the MINI Yours personalisation programme – the Masterpiece Edition offers true exclusivity with its unique exterior and ‘one of 30’ collectability status. It’s an ideal halo for the MINI Cooper S family.”With one month left in 2017, Mini has sold 401 examples of the Clubman, down 14.1 per cent over the same period in 2016.

It sits third in its segment for sales behind its Mini Hatch stablemate (1989) and the Audi A1 (1160).
