Third-generation Series II 5-door

Mini’s most popular model at the time, the 5-door hatch, received an update in mid-2018 after arriving Down Under in October 2014.

Available in two grades in the update, the 100kW/220Nm 1.5-litre turbo three-cylinder Cooper and spicier 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol Cooper S, with the diesel version being discontinued.

However, Mini switched the six-speed torque convertor automatic for new seven-speed dual-clutch unit for improved efficiencies.

In-car technologies also gained a lift with a new 6.5-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Mini’s Connected services that allowed for owners to check on the car’s status from their smartphone.
