In November of 2017, MG released its second SUV, the ZS.

When it launched, the vehicle was one of the cheaped small SUVs on the market, undercutting key rivals from Mazda, Mitsubishi, Honda and Holden.

Two variants were available, starting with the Soul which was powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine developing 84kW and 150Nm.

Meanwhile, the range-topping Essence was instead treated to a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.

Both grades utilised a six-speed torque-converter automatic transmission, exclusively driving the front wheels.
