THE mid-engine/rear-drive configuration provides a 45 front/55 rear weight distribution. Rover engineers found about 20 per cent more power over the standard MGF 1.8 engine by varying the speed of the camshaft within each revolution - slowing it down while the valve is open to give a longer duration and speeding it up to give a "snap" open and close.
