MGF has a rolling-code engine immobiliser and alarm as standard. The engine will immobilise 30 seconds after the ignition has been switched off and the driver's door opened. Pressing the lock button on the remote keypad twice in quick succession "super locks" the car. Sill buttons cannot then be operated and the doors will not open. Microwave sensors, unaffected by air movement, can detect movement in the cockpit and set off a loud alarm.
