REJOINING the turbo-diesel bandwagon in Sydney will be the second-generation M-class 4WD from Mercedes-Benz, which was launched in Australia in ML350 and ML500 petrol guises last month and now gains a 165kW/510Nm turbo-diesel variant in the ML320 CDI.

Pricing has already been issued at $82,900 and turbo-diesel M-class deliveries start this week.

Just two-tenths of a second slower than the ML350, the ML320 CDI sprints to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds on its way to a 215km/h top speed – 10km/h down on the petrol V6 variant.

With a kerb weight of 2060kg, the ML320 CDI consumes 11.7L/100km on the ADR 81/01 fuel cycle.
