THE cross-breed SUV coupe segment unearthed by BMW has caught Mercedes-Benz’s eye enough to warrant a fastback version of the new GLE SUV to be developed.

In a case of better late than never, the three-pointed star sits on the nose of three GLE Coupe variants now on sale in Australia as part of the re-born GLE line-up that replaces the ML-Class.

AMG has provided the flagship – brutal and manic – but sports-oriented buyers will also be able to opt for a twin-turbo V6 450 AMG “lite” model that has its own strong appeal.
