THE Mercedes E-Class cabriolet range may be due for a mid-life facelift here around September, but there’s still plenty of life in the current version, as our enjoyable week behind the wheel revealed.

We remain as impressed by its quiet, smooth and unfussed road manners – not to mention its striking looks – as we were at its launch in 2010.

Truth be told, the E-Class cabrio actually shares much under its striking skin with the smaller C-Class, but then the ‘C’ is a mighty fine car in its own right. Neither model is as pin-sharp as its BMW equivalent, but both pull ahead on comfort.

Boot space is tight, the roof is far from the quickest to retract and the otherwise punchy turbo engine has some tell-tale lag, but as a beautifully stylish boulevard cruiser, it’s hard to look past the three-pointed star.
