Mercedes gives CLS limited-edition treatment

BY JAMES STANFORD | 19th Jan 2009

MERCEDES-BENZ will introduce a limited-edition of its ageing CLS four-door coupe this May.

The special model, called the Grand Edition, includes a range of upgrades including matt grey paint and high-grade designo leather trim.

Mercedes says the matt paint, which is also used for the grille fins, is highly scratch resistant and repels dirt better than traditional gloss finish.

The Grand Edition car also comes standard with active Bi-xenon headlights with dark surrounds, exclusive high-sheen 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, Command APS entertainment system, brushed metal pedals, Alcantara headlining, laurel woodgrain (in either gloss or matt) and velour floor mats.

The Grand Edition CLS will be available in either CLS350 or CLS500 form.
