A SOPHISTICATED collection of electronics is provided in the CLK. Like the C-class, the coupe has available a Cockpit Management and Data system (a.k.a. COMAND) that acts as a control centre for all audio and telecommunications functions - radio, stereo, CD player/changer, sat-nav, phone, "Linguatronic" voice control and TV receiver. The driver can operate these functions directly on a COMAND unit in the centre console or transmit instructions using buttons on the steering wheel. A number of electronic handling-related safety systems are found on the car, including the electronic stability program (ESP), acceleration skid control and brake assist. The latter automatically generates the maximum brake boost if it deems the driver brakes too hesitantly or gently in critical situations.
