THE new C-class brings a huge range of visual and mechanical improvements to the small prestige sedan range - S-class looks, more interior space, a long-overdue cockpit revamp, improved handling and, importantly, increased safety equipment. Where the C220 CDI model makes its mark is, naturally, in the engine department. The 2.148-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine features a variable turbocharger and modern common rail injection system that combines strong pulling power with commendably low fuel consumption.
