BENZ claims crash safety standards in excess of any statutory requirements. In Euro NCAP testing, a left-hand drive version of the C-class sedan scores four stars, however, the Sports Coupe is yet to be tested. Sports Coupe boasts a six-phase "Real-Life Safety Concept" designed to provide accident prevention as well as protection of occupants in the event of an impact. Important elements of prevention include the use electronic sensors to monitor car handling and driver aids such as ABS, Brake Assist and ESP. Once involved in the accident, the C200K can call on impact absorbent bumpers, robust chassis members, belt tensioners, front, door-mounted side and full-length window airbags and belt force limiters to prevent occupant injury. After it's all over doors are automatically unlocked and hazard warning lights are switched on.
