THE MX-5 maintains a clean look consistent with the original concept. It was designed to offer basic sports car driving pleasure, so items such as an electrically folding roof are not offered. The latest MX-5 comes with a standard six-speed manual gearbox - no automatic is available. Pop-up headlights were discarded with the MX-5 restyle in 1998. The MX-5 now has a glass rear window.
