THE MX-5's seats incorporate noise suppression measures including large slide-rollers, O-rings on hinges and a urethane insert on the fore-aft adjustment lever's return spring. Adjustment is limited to fore-aft slide and seatback tilt. The seats are high-backed buckets with integrated head restraints and the seatback frame is now sturdier and lighter, with a tubular upper structure. They do not, however, have seatbelt pretensioners for optimum harnessing in the event of a collision. The central section of each seat is upholstered in woven cloth, though the door trim is conspicuously low on cloth or leather trim found on some of its competitors.
