First look: All-new Mazda6 gets edgy

MAZDA has revealed the first official image of its redesigned Mazda6 mid-sizer, ahead of its official public debut at the Frankfurt motor show on September 11.

Expected on sale here around May next year - in sedan, hatch and wagon bodystyles – the all-new Mazda6 takes on the bold new front-end look and wildly flared wheelarches pioneered by the RX-8 sportscar and since applied to the upcoming MkII Mazda2.

No official details are available, but Mazda says its newest model will continue with the “responsive handling and performance” and “distinctive design and exceptional functionality” of its accomplished forebear – along with improved quality, safety and environmental performance.
