FOR small car buyers, good things do come in threes. Just as the mid-sized 626 became a ‘6’ and baby 121 a ‘2’, the 26-year-old 323 nameplate gives way to a trendier single digit moniker … in this case ‘3’. Always capable and competent, Mazda’s staple model now has a big dose of style and driver appeal, as well as more space, pace and practicality. But with a new Holden Astra, VW Golf and Ford Focus just around the corner, it seems bad things can also come in threes for Mazda.
