DIESELS are becoming far more accepted in the marketplace for their impressive low-end torque, low fuel consumption and new levels of smoothness and refinement. Mazda’s latest diesel, the Mazda3 Diesel, is right up there on all these counts. Some buyers, however, will want more variation in trim level and a lower price, perhaps, while others would prefer an automatic transmission. Although the Mazda3 Diesel’s market potential has been quartered by the lack of an auto option, there is still a lot right about this new Mazda diesel.
