MAZDA has brought the look of its CX-9 bang up-to-date with the application of its latest Kodo design language to the front end.

Equipment additions and interior tweaks have also helped bring it closer to current standards in the face of ever-strengthening competition from the likes of Hyundai and Kia.

On the downside are the same old thirsty 3.7-litre petrol engine, an interior design that cannot hide its age and handling that was comparatively sharp in 2007 but not as impressive as newer rivals.
