TRIMMING down the 626 allows the car to get by with just a 2.0-litre engine. It is based on the long-running twin-camshaft four-cylinder, modified in terms of power and torque output, and gains noise and vibration improvements. The latter is assisted by a more rigid engine block and a silent internal fan and D ring in the alternator to lower noise over 4000 rpm.
