FORD LASER 4D SEDAN (1996-1997)
ATTRACTIVELY styled with distinct differences to its Mazda brother but the same 1.6-litre, twin cam, 16-valve engine and layout. Softer ride and handling than the Mazda. Power steering, radio/cassette standard.

DAIHATSU APPLAUSE 4D SEDAN (1989-1998)
SOMEWHAT dated design but still effective. Light weight gives good performance and economy from the 1.6-litre, 16-valve engine with four-speed auto or five-speed manual and the model is renowned for reliability. Power mirrors and steering, radio/cassette.

TOYOTA COROLLA 4D SEDAN (1994-2000)
ALWAYS a contender in this class. A 1.8-litre, 16-valve engine drives the front wheels through a four-speed auto or five-speed manual. Central locking, power steering and radio/cassette standard.

HOLDEN ASTRA 4D SEDAN (1996-1998)
GERMAN designed by Opel with a single cam, 1.8-litre engine driving the front wheels via five-speed manual or optional four- speed auto. Dull styling but good road performance. Driver's airbag, central locking, fog lights, power mirrors/steering and six-speaker radio/cassette.
