AT the 'warm' (as opposed to hot) hatch market, appearance counts at least as much as - if not more - as engine performance and driving dynamics. While the evocative body adornments and interior decals achieve the desired effect, what is perhaps most striking about the SP20 is that it also offers the keen driver plenty to work with. The 2.0-litre engine and somewhat handling-biased suspension are both excellent features. A lack of centre rear occupant safety items - unacceptable in any vehicle but glaringly so in a car worth close to $30,000 - disappoints.
