First look: Maybach goes hyper-sports!

BY MARTON PETTENDY | 2nd Jun 2005

MAYBACH has unveiled a high-performance Exelero custom coupe, built purely to show off the exclusive brand’s design capabilities and to help test new tyre technology.

A modern interpretation of Maybach’s legendary streamlined sports car from the 1930s, the Exelero was produced for Fulda Reifenwerke, which is using the Exelero as a reference vehicle for a newly developed generation of wide tyres.

The twin-turbocharged V12 two-seater develops 515kW of power and a massive 1020Nm of torque from 2500rpm.

Despite a kerb weight of more than 2.6 tonnes, the super-coupe is claimed to have reached a top speed of 351.45km/h during testing on the high-speed Nardo track in Italy.
