BOOKIES last year would have fallen over themselves to take your money if you’d proposed Maserati would have sold more than 170 cars in the first four months of 2015.

But that’s the case as the Ghibli sedan creates demand for the Italian car-maker in Australia, which is having a flow-on effect for its larger Quattroporte stablemate.

Ask why and dealers point to the brand’s strong name for Italian design, the historic adulation from the marque’s racing years and – perhaps more pertinent – the affordable price that starts at $138,900.
