Mahindra goes run-out

THE newly-established joint-venture between Indian vehicle giant Mahindra & Mahindra and its Australian distributor TMI Pacific, Mahindra Automotive Australia (MAA), has announced its first range-wide retail sale.

The end-of-model run-out campaign includes savings of up to $3000 on the Pik-Up utility launched in Australia in June 2007, and runs until March 31 throughout MAA’s 20-dealer network in NSW, Victoria and Queensland (the first Mahindra outlets in South Australia will soon be announced).

Until the end of this month, Mahindra’s turbo-diesel Pik-Up range opens with the single-cab 4x2 cab/chassis at $16,990 plus on-road costs – $3000 less than before.

Fitted with a rear tray, the same model is now priced at $18,990 (was $21,990), while the dual-cab 4x2 cab/chassis is now $21,990 (was $23,990) and the trayed version is $23,990 (was $25,990).

Of the 4x4 Pik-Up variants, the single-cab cab/chassis now costs $20,990 (was $22,990), with a tray bringing the price to $22,990 (was $24,990). The dual-cab 4x4 cab/chassis costs $25,990 (was $27,990) until the end of March, while the dual-cab 4x4 tops the range at $26,990 – down $3000 from $29,990.

While an upgraded Pik-Up ute and a five-door SUV wagon are expected to emerge from Mahindra in Australia soon, the current Pik-Up continues to be powered by a 2.5-litre CRDe turbocharged and intercooled common-rail four-cylinder diesel engine.

Standard Pik-Up equipment continues to include a limited-slip differential on both 2WD and 4WD versions (with automatic hub locks and electric 4WD engagement featuring on the latter), plus air-conditioning, power steering, power windows, remote central locking, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, side steps, foglights, front and rear demisters and an AM/FM/CD/MP3 sound system with USB and SD card inputs.

“We will be making an announcement shortly about our model plans, so this is the perfect time for Australian drivers to get an even better value for money workhorse ute that’s built for the toughest jobs out there,” said MAA CEO Claire Tynan.
