Lexus prices new UX300e EV under $80K

LEXUS has priced its next generation UX300e compact electric SUV for Australia, the two-variant range beginning at $79,990 plus on-road costs for the Luxury grade – a price tag that helps it sneak in beneath the federal government’s luxury car tax threshold for fuel efficient vehicles.

Available from June, the UX300e benefits from a major technology upgrade that sees range extended to 560km (NEDC). It features a larger 72.8kWh battery (up from 54.4kWh) and offers peak power of 150kW and peak torque of 300Nm.

The battery pack of the Lexus UX300e remains positioned low in the floor to benefit the model’s centre of gravity and “faithful handling”, says Lexus, while further serving as a sound barrier to suppress noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).

The UX300e shares the upgrades made to the remainder of the UX range late last year, including a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto connectivity, DAB+ digital radio reception, satellite navigation, a wireless phone charging pad, and a 13-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system.

The UX technology upgrade further includes a three-year complimentary subscription to Lexus Connected Services, which offers a range of safety and convenience features via the vehicle’s inbuilt Data Communication Module when connected to a mobile network.

Lexus Connected Services can also provide addition customer benefits when paired with the Lexus Connected app.

The top line UX 300e Sports Luxury is priced from $88,490 +ORCs, reflecting its higher equipment levels and positioning as the flagship in the UX range.

The UX 300e Sports Luxury's additional features include leather accented seats, a moonroof, head-up display, panoramic view monitor (360-degree camera system), adaptive high beam system, three projector LED headlights with dynamic auto levelling, acoustic front side glass and uniquely designed 18-inch wheels.

All UX 300e customers will continue to enjoy Lexus Encore Platinum Electrified benefits, including complimentary home charger installation complimentary access to Chargefox charging stations, Lexus On Demand, and complimentary Valet Parking.

Lexus chief executive John Pappas said the UX 300e appeals to younger, affluent customers wanting the flexible urban lifestyle offered by a compact SUV, together with dynamic performance and zero tailpipe emissions.

“The UX 300e is a great urban vehicle for younger buyers wanting a car that is fun to drive and also refined and sophisticated,” he said.

“It plays a major role as the entry battery electric vehicle in the Lexus range as we continue our move towards a diverse line-up of luxury vehicles that is either fully or partially electrified.

“The important thing for Lexus is to offer our customers a choice of low and zero tailpipe emission vehicles that suit their mobility needs.”
